Our client is launching an end-to-end inventory management initiative to realise gains and improvements in the areas of data accuracy, product consolidation, waste reduction, billing accuracy and end-to-end governance and controls.

As part of the initial phases of this initiative, the client is looking to place inventory controllers in each of the key clinical cost centres with a view to;

  • Increasing the understanding of the as is process through a combination of additional data collection and process mapping/documentation
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Enhancing existing governance and controls

Roles and Responsibilities

The inventory controller will have end-to-end process responsibility and ownership for the order to bill cycle within their particular area covering areas such as;

  • Consolidating the number of inventory items/options where feasible
  • Ensuring data accuracy / completeness of records on stock system
  • Enhancing controls across the order/replenishment process for both non-consignment and consignment stock processes
  • Reviewing and implementing effective stock rotation processes to minimise wastage
  • Managing the overall vendor returns process
  • Supporting the clinical staff to ensure that all chargeable consumables are controlled, tracked and billed accurately
  • Identifying improvements across the end to end process to improve accuracy, enhance controls and reduce waste

Suitable Candidate

  • Extensive experience in Inventory management and control – preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Analytical mind-set with proven problem solving/continuous improvement track record
  • LEAN/Six Sigma background would be of significant benefit
  • Excellent Excel and IT skills
  • Strong data analysis and reconciliation skills
