About the job:

The opportunity:

An opportunity has arisen for a Litigation Claims Handler to join a leading Irish insurance organisation based in Dublin.

The claims handler is responsible for the investigation, negotiation and resolution of litigation claims within their allocated authority.

Reporting to the Claims Litigation Manager they will get involved in the delivery of litigation team goals and collaborate in collective claims departmental objectives whilst managing a specific allocated claims portfolio.

 

The Role:

Reporting to the Claims Litigation Manager they will get involved in the delivery of litigation team goals and collaborate in collective claims departmental objectives whilst managing a specific allocated claims portfolio

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage a portfolio of claims from litigation stage
  • Determine file strategy
  • Investigate and negotiate claims to a successful outcome within agreed authority limits
  • Arrange and attend liability, pre-trial and settlement consultations, where necessary
  • Attend court to deal cases listed in hearing
  • Monitoring provisions and ensuring cost effective and timely resolution of claims
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, governance and quality standards
  • Authorising claims cheques within designated authority levels
  • Focus on controlling the cost of claims, while meeting expectations

 

Experience & Skills required:

  • MCC qualified, CIP Minimum
  • Relevant professional and / or 3rd level qualification
  • 10+ years’ experience in the General Insurance Industry
  • Deep knowledge of Public Liability, Employers Liability and Motor Claims technical requirements, regulatory and operational requirements relates to financial services / insurance companies
  • Exemplary negotiation and claims settlement skill set
  • Analytical and decisive, with the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Result driven and goal focussed
  • Ability to work well under pressure

The ideal candidate is one can maintain market leading knowledge and learning from the general insurance litigation marketplace while also showing a keen awareness of the book pf quantum, awards, litigation and judicial trends.
