My client, an organisation that holds a significant position in the domestic appliance and renewables industry worldwide, currently have a vacancy for a Technical Support / Building Services Engineer. This role is permanent and based in Dublin, and would suit a graduate with 2 – 3 years’ experience.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Technical Engineer for the division you will be responsible for all pre and after sales based on the specification of products into developers, contractors, architects and specification engineers.
- Working with the Sales team in the preparation of design proposals and quotes.
- Project manage and prioritise projects for evaluation.
- Generate professional quotations with a focus on supporting new business.
- Design system layouts and provide organisation approved schematics.
- Advise sales team, consulting engineers, installers and end-users of the best and most appropriate solution for a particular project.
- Size heating systems based on first principle heat loss, including appliance sizing and radiator sizing.
- Ensure all system designs are delivered in line with TGD Part L 2011, BCAR utilizing CIBSE guidelines and the DEAP software.
- Calculate estimated running costs and make comparisons with other fuels.
- Assess existing installations to best advise retrofit of renewable solutions.
- Assess BER ratings regarding the installation of renewable products.
- Provide technical assistance regarding requirement for new products.
- The role involves a lot of interaction with specifiers, with regular Client meetings and on-site visits
- Protect our brand by providing quality control regarding the installation of products via the service level agreements
- Provide training for existing and new installers.
- Deal with onsite installation issues as they arise and deal with installers regarding all technical issues on site.
- Provide technical / diagnostic product support.
- Management of the BCAR and issue of warranty certificates.
- Manage 3rd party engineers SLAs.
- Process and manage all payments on call Handler.
- Advise and enforce the correct commissioning procedures, and communicate all necessary non-conformance to the plumbers and builders.
- Provide technical assistance for end users.
- Deal with inter-company technical issues
- Provide independent assessment of problem installations.
- Deal with all service calls for all product categories with onsite visits where required.
- Carry out commissioning when appropriate.
- Provide an out of office phone service for warranty calls on a rotating basis with colleagues
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
- Good working knowledge of Building Services Engineering with 2-3 years post graduate experience.
- Strong knowledge of heating and ventilation system design.
- Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, plumbing and knowledge of refrigeration systems would also be of benefit.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage relationships with specifiers Builders, Contractors, plumbers, Consulting engineers and architects.
- Detailed Knowledge of DEAP and TGD Part L 2011, with strong analytical skills and understanding of building regulations and CIBSE guidelines.
- Experience delivering specification of mechanical and building services, ideally working on the design integration and delivery of renewable technologies into domestic and commercial projects.
- Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Full drivers licence.
