Financial Services Consultancy – Business Analyst

Base – Dublin with travel to London and New York

Our global management and technology consulting client are looking for a number of Business Analysts to join the Capital Markets Consulting Business in Dublin. Working as a Business Analyst involves analysing critical problems from a business and technical perspective and recommending solutions. The problems can range from choosing a new FX system to the technical implications of entering the credit derivatives business. As well as being paid the highest per capita consulting rates a business analyst has the potential to influence the staffing of any future work related to his recommendations.

At the top level a business analyst needs the following: An in-depth awareness of financial theory, an idea of how business problems can be resolved. The ability to derive costings based on project management skills. An awareness of technical issues and the ability to present findings in a manner understood by senior management. In other words they have skills in multiple dimensions with the emphasis being on their ability to understand the capital markets business.

Duties and Responsibilities are typically as follows: Collecting, understanding, and transmitting the business requirements for the project, and translating these into functional specifications and detailed test plans. Analyse and document business processes. Document workflows and results of business analysis and obtain sign-off from client on the specifications. To provide the link between the customer, development team and any third party regarding software functionality, throughout the development lifecycle. To design and execute the test scenarios and test scripts. Day to day management of change requests in relation to the project plans to ensure agreed deadlines are met. Weekly reports to be produced for the project manager showing progress against outstanding milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced Business Analysts and in particular the following:

  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a Business Analyst/ Project Management role, particularly in a Change environment, or a background consulting
  • Experience of working in medium to large teams in complex project environments
  • Demonstrable evidence of analysing and documenting complex business processes
  • Demonstrable experience writing requirements specifications for Information Systems
  • End to end experience of the project/software lifecycle
  • Ability to interview line operations managers and document findings
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal direction
  • Ability to formulate deliverables and manage their own time effectively in generating output
  • Proven experience interacting directly with end users
  • Results orientated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ideally candidates will have experience of some of the below:

- OTC Derivatives

- Middle and back office trade processing

- OTC risk management

- Regulatory – Dodd-Frank, EMIR, FATCA, MiFID

- C++/ Java/ C#/ SQL/KDB

 

Open to consider consultants (full-time) open to being based in Dublin and traveling to New York & London
